What was your New Year's Resolution? I don't really do the whole resolution thing but I did make a promise to myself.
I promised that I would take care of myself just as much as I take care of everyone else. I made the decision to prioritize my health and well-being in the same way that I do for my husband and kids.
I am working on getting to a healthier lifestyle and one of the things that I really want to commit to and hiking at least twice a week. I might face a few challenges being a stay-at-home mama of a 2 and 5-year-old but this is important to me.
Keeping my promise, I went on an hour-long hike this past Saturday at Pundt Park in Spring. It was absolutely beautiful.
The trail has all these little winds and turns, dark pockets that let you peer into the thick of the trees, horse trails, and random small wildlife.

I had a few pretty birds (couldn't tell you the name of them) fly right next to me and just casually peruse along the trail. I wish I could have caught them but I wasn't quick enough with the camera.
I also loved that this path was so covered in trees that you felt like you were alone and even when you weren't. It allows you to get that moment of peace and quiet all to yourself. I was able to recharge my battery to the sounds of nature and nothing else.
I am still on the hunt for some parks with wildflowers but I was able to catch these two...
Around one turn there was this little swamp that I fell in love with. It was like this little pocket of peace that you wouldn't even know was there if you didn't make that one little turn on the path.
Peace is always near, waiting for you.
You just have to actively seek it.
All it takes is that one little turn, or that one little change in your perspective.
